GeoRadio DC turns an ordinary stroll through Washington into a fascinating and entertaining experience
Washington, D.C. (PRWEB) February 3, 2009
Washington Flyer magazine, the airports' official guide to everything great in Washington, and Gotham Studios, an Emmy-winning GPS Entertainment company, have launched GeoRadio DC, a free iPhone application that provides self-guided audio tours, events and more for the Washington, D.C. area. To get it, iPhone users can go to the App Store, search for "georadio," and download it for free.
Designed for both tourists and locals alike, GeoRadio DC provides the inside stories on sites in Washington and utilizes Washington Flyer's editorial content.
On the audio tours, GeoRadio DC users hear fascinating stories, humorous anecdotes, and useful details about monuments, statues, restaurants, federal buildings, parks and museums from Emmy-winning producers and professional narrators. For example, users can take the "White House" tour and receive an audio guide detailing information on nearby landmarks and other notable attractions in the area.
Did you know the Washington Monument's designer feared it would look like a "stalk of asparagus"? Or that the IRS's basement was completely flooded just a few years ago? Or that the Postmaster General fell to his death on the opening day of DC's new post office? It's all part of the storytelling in GeoRadio DC.
"We are thrilled to take Washington Flyer's trusted content to the next level, making our insider-tips and events round up accessible and free to anyone with an iPhone," said Nick Yaeger, Publisher, Washington Flyer. "We look forward to an on-going and successful partnership with Gotham Studios."
"GeoRadio DC turns an ordinary stroll through Washington into a fascinating and entertaining experience," said Peter Nissen," President, Gotham Studios. "It's an easy and free way for tourists to learn the rich history of our nation's Capitol and offers inside stories that even DC aficionados may find surprising.
