Anyone who waits until the last minute to order may be disappointed.
Fort Worth, Tex. (PRWEB) February 5, 2009
"My love is like a red, red rose that's newly sprung in June; my love is like the melody that's sweetly played in tune. So fair art thou, my bonnie lass, so deep in love am I; that I will send a sweet bouquet of roses six feet high!"
Scottish poet Robert Burns didn't write his timeless verse quite that way, but he might have, had he ever seen a six-foot-tall Epic Rose. The jaw-dropping stems were such a hit last year that Bice's Florist is bringing them back for Valentine's Day 2009.
The rare flowers are available for delivery Feb. 10-14 only. Bice's, one of a handful of florists in the United States to offer the exceptional stems, accepts pick-up orders, but says buyers will need a truck or utility vehicle to move them.
"The biggest roses in the world match the big-thinking Texas lifestyle in a way that goes beyond just size," Riewe said. "These flowers deliver a totally unique experience for the person who receives them."
Epic Rose recipients get more than a delivery; they get a production . Because of their size, the roses are transported lying flat and must be arranged after they are delivered. A florist accompanies the delivery driver and makes the arrangement at the point of delivery.
Epic Roses are grown in the mountains of Ecuador, where rich volcanic soil and long growing days followed by cool evenings provide the perfect nurturing environment. Before shipping the roses go through a special hydration process to sustain them through shipping and ensure many days of bloom after delivery.
The stems are unusually thick, about three-eights of an inch at the base. The blooms are three-to-four inches across, with 65 or more petals each. For the full visual effect, see this video and this television news story. The video links also appear near the top of the Valentine's Catalogue page on Bice's Website.
Each year during the week of Valentine's Day, Feb. 14, Bice's makes thousands of deliveries of traditional long-stem roses, strawberries hand-dipped in Godiva chocolate, and a variety of gifts. Riewe says when the delivery is Epic Roses, people throughout the neighborhood know something very special is happening.
Because Epic Roses are a once-a-year specialty item, supplies are limited. "We sold out last year, when people hadn't seen Epic Roses before, and we anticipate strong demand this year," Riewe said. "Anyone who waits until the last minute to order may be disappointed."
