New York indie music artist Marc Black is the new recipient of two Fame Games Effigy Awards, presented by ABC Radio Networks, for Folk Artist of the Year and Folk Song of the Year. The winning song, Ooh I Love My Coffee, continues to gain national popularity, currently at number three on the Global Breakout Charts. The other entry, Step Up America, was also one of this year's most popular songs on the syndication. Continually receiving music industry accolades, Black was also nominated in two other categories, Most Popular Song and Artist. His recordings are available on ITunes and at CDBaby.com. His CDs feature supporting performances by Art Garfunkel, Steve Gadd, John Sebastian and many other luminaries.

"Marc is a phenomenally versatile artist. His slightly folky approach to music reveals a truly rare talent, with a superb crossover potential. Marc can - and should - be an international superstar," says co-founder of Fame Games, Paul Sedkowski. "Fame Games is now doing all it can to make sure listeners around the globe hear this fantastic artist. We think Marc is one of our biggest discoveries."

The second annual Effigy Awards are part of Meer Music International's show, Fame Games. The radio program broadcasts on one of Europe's largest networks. Since their initial program in April 2006 Fame Games radio and internet broadcasts have grown a listener base of more than two million, with more than three hundred and fifty thousand monthly listeners, to become the number one internet show in the music industry. The show's English language broadcasts go out to an audience primarily in the United States, Canada, Australia and the United Kingdom.

In 2008 the Fame Games audience grew exponentially when the show began broadcasting in the United States on the ABC Radio Network. The network claims: "Fame Games is the first truly inventive radio show in years. It's a performance competition that discovers the best new independent music from around the world." Among the ABC affiliates carrying Fame Games is WFNX 101.7FM Boston, KGHP 89.9FM Seattle, KWMT 92.9FM Tucson, KFFG 97.7FM San Jose, WZEW 92.1FM Mobile, KKMG 98.9FM Colorado Springs and WRVE 99.5FM Albany.

This marks the second consecutive year that Black has been honored by Fame Games. Last year, his song For A Little While was named 'Song of the Week' and nominated as 'Folk Song of the Year'. The program's executives are equally fond of Ooh I Love My Coffee, making this statement: "It´s equally fun and engaging and funny and simply brilliant! In fact, we think this will be our in-house theme song."

Black's most recent other awards and featured performances include his appearance at the ASCAP Music Cafe @ The Sundance Film Festival, winning the Austin Songwriter's Competition Award, a main stage showcase at the International Folk Alliance in Memphis, and his Stroke of Genius CD topping the CD Baby Charts, selling over 250 copies one week, and getting onto a Billboard Heat Seekers Chart.

The 2008/09 Effigy Awards were broadcast on ABC Radio affiliates around the United States. The event's internet broadcasts were also heard globally at Meer Music.com, with the award show podcasts available at iTunes.
