While many travel companies are reducing their offerings, iTrek will announce major new initiatives at this years LA Times' Travel and Adventure Show.

Company CEO, Leigh Wilson, who is currently in Nepal readying the staff for spring 2009, said, "Due to our great success here in Nepal over the past two years we have recently received a sizable amount of venture funding to launch operations in other parts of the world."

The move may come as a surprise to many in the industry. This year has seen some long established adventure travel companies either close or curtail their businesses due to the prevailing economic conditions.

iTrek spokesperson Andy Leonard said, "Our focus for the past two years has been on high quality, authentic adventures in Nepal. This has allowed us to build a loyal following of adventurous travelers who want a great trip at a good value."
