With the UK officially now in a recession, Chester based Marketing agency Prodo has advised North West businesses to look at their marketing campaigns and use cost effective marketing techniques to help promote their businesses.
This advice also comes after a new report published by the IPA (Institute of Practitioners in Advertising) which reveals a decrease in marketing budgets. The report goes on to recommend that whilst budgets have dropped, more cost effective marketing techniques such as email marketing should be used to help firms get through the current economic slump.
The British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) has also added to this stating that it would be a bad idea for firms to cut their amount of marketing activity. They have recommended for all companies to relook at their marketing plans and focus on creating effective campaigns that make the most out of their budget.
The MD of the BCC recommended that firms need to make sure they keep existing customers as well as attracting new ones, and identify whether they have to adapt to the current situation by using alternative marketing techniques to get the best from their campaigns.

By cutting their marketing budget completely firms could create long term damage to their brand and lose existing, as well as prospective, customers."
