Dr. Steven Schuster, a board-certified plastic surgeon, has recently added the Portrait 3D Surgical Simulation Platform to his office. This system, developed by Axis Three®, is ideal for patients considering body contouring plastic surgery in Boca Raton. The Portrait 3D is based on breakthrough image capture and simulation technology, and enables Dr. Schuster (http://www.schusterplasticsurgery.com/plastic-surgeon.cfm) to show a patient what they will look like after procedures such as breast lift and breast augmentation in Boca Raton. This revolutionary technology is the first of its kind in Florida.
The Portrait 3D system platform photographs a patient's body before her breast procedure, captures linear and volumetric measurements, and creates an exact three dimensional replica of her body on screen. Dr. Schuster examines this model with the patient during the consultation, and performs a virtual breast augmentation, breast lift, or breast reconstruction on the 3D model to visualize the expected result in advance of an actual surgical procedure.
"The photo-realistic result can be viewed from all angles, and implant size adjusted to most closely meet the patient's needs," says Dr. Schuster, the first plastic surgeon in Boca Raton, Florida to offer this technology. "This allows women for the first time to select implant size, shape, and position based on the expected outcome on their own body. Until now, my patients have depended primarily on my judgment and recommendations, along with viewing photographs of past patients and 'trying on' various implant sizes placed in their bra."
Dr. Schuster believes the Portrait 3D will greatly enhance the consultation experience for women, allowing them to feel more confident about their choices. "I have already found that consultations have become more interactive. Many of my patients express anxiety about the implant size before breast augmentation and being too small or too large after the surgery. By seeing the simulation of the implant sizes on their own bodies in advance of surgery, I find my patients have much greater peace of mind," says Dr. Schuster.
Many of Dr. Schuster's patients have been very loyal to his plastic surgery practice, which has served the Boca Raton area for over the 20 years. They have come to expect the most advanced surgical techniques and products to enhance the plastic surgery experience. Dr. Schuster performs hundreds of breast augmentation surgeries in Boca Raton each year and feels that the Portrait 3D system will elevate the standard of care by improving pre-operative communication and surgical planning.
"Three dimensional visualization far exceeds any other technique for demonstrating implant size for my patients," adds Dr. Schuster. While there are 25 Portrait 3D cameras in plastic surgery offices throughout the United States, Dr. Schuster's is the first of its kind in all of Florida. In the coming months, Dr. Schuster plans on using this technology to simulate rhinoplasty, liposuction and facelift for his patients.
