Westport, Connecticut (PRWEB) February 17, 2009
The latest research by Saugatuck Technology shows continuing strong demand across all classes of on-demand applications and infrastructure throughout 2009 and beyond, suggesting that buyers will continue to invest in SaaS and Cloud Computing despite the current constraints impacting all aspects of corporate and public sector spending. While not a panacea for all ills, this suggests that SaaS and Cloud Computing will continue to gain share across all key customer segments - even as providers themselves come to grip with business model challenges and industry consolidation, accelerated by the global economic crisis.
These are two key research themes that will be highlighted by Saugatuck Technology founder and CEO Bill McNee at the OpSource SaaS Summit 2009. The Summit begins Wednesday March 11th at the Westin St. Francis, in San Francisco, California.
McNee will present Saugatuck's latest SaaS and Cloud research in a main-tent session titled, "SaaS and Cloud Opportunities in a Changing Market" on Thursday morning, March 12th. McNee will highlight what Saugatuck sees as the critical ecosystem emerging around SaaS and Cloud Computing providers and users.
McNee will also deliver preliminary insights from Saugatuck's latest SaaS research program, including changes in SaaS buyer demand due to the 2008 economic collapse. The data and insight come from Saugatuck's international SaaS research program, including a web survey of nearly 1,800 executives, conducted in late November and early December, 2009 - a full two months after the start of the current financial crisis. The research also includes briefings with leading and emerging SaaS providers, and in-depth interviews with user executives. McNee's presentation will highlight top-line findings from the research, and explore important implications and challenges that providers face. It will also examine the most important opportunities in SaaS for the 1,000 or more senior executives attending the Summit.
The research behind McNee's presentation research will ultimately serve as the cornerstone for Saugatuck's fourth annual "state of SaaS business" research report, due to be published in late March, 2009. Additional insights, analysis and guidance will be published throughout the year as part of Saugatuck's premium, subscription Continuous Research Service (CRS). Later in the spring, Saugatuck will publish the first major user and vendor business report on Cloud Computing. Saugatuck's Cloud Computing research program also includes a significant global web survey of buyer demand, as well as provider briefings and end-user, executive interviews.
"Saugatuck is delighted to again participate in OpSource's SaaS Summit," stated McNee. "OpSource has done a terrific job turning this conference - now in its fourth year - into a major industry-wide event, across the entire SaaS / Cloud provider ecosystem."
"The kind of rich, mission-critical insights that Saugatuck Technology will bring to SaaS Summit 2009 is exactly what this event is all about," said Richard Dym, CMO, OpSource. "If you are looking to not just survive but thrive this year, you need to come hear from leading thinkers like Bill McNee."
