San Francisco, Calif. (PRWEB) February 17, 2009 -- eduFire.com, a rapidly growing online education community and marketplace, has launched eduFire Classes, a new service that makes live online group classes available to the public. Classes are currently being offered on the site in subjects such as foreign language learning, exam prep and computer programming.

eduFire Classes allow teachers to reach a global audience and students to learn in an interactive group setting.Teachers use a combination of live video instruction via webcam, whiteboards, presentations and text and voice chat to interact with students. Classes can be offered free or a fee can be charged.

"More than ever in this economic climate people are looking to sharpen their skills and expand their education", says Jon Bischke, eduFire's Founder and CEO. "We feel that the eduFire Classes service is the most convenient and cost-effective way for students to learn and the most flexible online platform for teachers."

One of the most popular subjects on eduFire is Japanese language learning. Koichi, a popular blogger on Japanese culture, is one of eduFire's most active teachers. His online classes on eduFire often draw in more than 75 students.

"It's amazing all the people I'm able to reach", said Koichi. "I've already taught hundreds of students from countries such as Argentina, Ireland, India, and Tanzania."

In addition to offering group classes, students can receive live one-on-one instruction from anyone of over 2,000 of eduFire's tutors, interact with other members through forums and groups or play eduFire's free interactive flashcard games.

eduFire's mission is simple: Revolutionize education. eduFire is dedicated to creating a platform that allows live video learning to take place over the Internet. The company aims to making learning accessible to anyone, anytime of day and from anywhere. eduFire is the first online education platform to make a fully interactive classroom open to the public.
