Chicago is long overdue for a breakthrough in hip hop music, where the entire music community embraces and recognizes local talent

On March 7, 2009, GO Sity Entertainment and Bo Beniz present The Chicago Hip Hop Classic, a concert and music symposium exclusively featuring homegrown hip hop. King Dr., are Pheave, Que B.I.L.L.A.H, Gemstones, Polie Da Great, Twone Gabz, Jak Frost, and a special performance by dance troupe, Final Phaze. Doors open at 6pm, showtime at 7pm. The Chicago Hip Hop Classic will bring together artists, industry executives and music lovers in one explosive celebration. "Chicago is long overdue for a breakthrough in hip hop music, where the entire music community embraces and recognizes local talent," says GO Sity Entertainment CEO Boaz "Bo Beniz" McGee about the inspiration for creating The Chicago Hip Hop Classic. "The Classic is neutral territory. Everybody can shine, " he adds.

In recent years, the limelight has shined bright on Chicago's hip hop community with the international success of native tongues like Common, Kanye West, Twista and Lupe Fiasco. To experience the opportunities, resources and support necessary to secure their inevitable success, chasing their dreams beyond the Windy City was a part of the journey for these artists, but it's critical to create these same opportunities at home. "There's so much talent in Chicago. With everyone working together, Chicago artists can have success here just like their counterparts in Atlanta, Houston, L.A. and New York," shares Greg "Olskool Ice-Gre" Lewis, founding member of Chicago's pioneering duo Abstract Mindstate and A&R for G.O.O.D Music.

By showcasing some of Chicago's best emerging artists and creating a prime opportunity to network with professionals in the music and business communities, The Chicago Hip Hop Classic marks a step in the right direction toward Chicago becoming the new hub of hip hop music.
