Voice & Visual Mobile Ad Company Adds Joe Hurd as VP, Business Development & Chris Monteferrante as VP, Ad Sales

Apptera, the Voice & Visual mobile advertising company, today announced the addition of two industry veterans to its management team, Joe Hurd and Chris Monteferrante. Mr. Hurd has joined as VP of Business Development with responsibility to grow the company's publisher distribution network and execute all strategic partner relationships. Mr. Monteferrante has joined as VP of Advertising Sales, with the task of helping brands and their agencies engage hundreds of millions of consumers on their mobile phones with voice advertising and relevant visual media.

Joe Hurd is a Silicon Valley veteran, having been part of the senior management teams at two early-stage, fast growth companies. Prior to Apptera, Joe was the Vice President, International and Vice President, Business Development at VideoEgg, a rich media advertising network. At VideoEgg, Joe built a distribution network of over 300 websites and applications, and helped grow the company's revenue from zero to over $10 million annual revenue in just under two years. Prior to VideoEgg, he ran business development and international at Friendster, the pioneering social network. Joe started his career in digital media and advertising at America Online, where he built and ran business development teams in Japan and Australia. Joe has an undergraduate degree from Harvard College and a J.D. from Harvard Law School.

Chris Monteferrante brings to Apptera nearly 20 years of national advertising sales and operational management experience with both linear and digital new media platforms. Most recently, Chris led ESPN's Advanced Media efforts, where he developed and implemented all advertising initiatives related to advanced media including interactive television (ITV), ESPN ON-Demand platforms as well as online and mobile tie-ins. During his tenure at ESPN, Chris also oversaw advertising sales where he established strong relationships with hundreds of national advertisers and consistently exceeded $200 million in annual sales. Prior to ESPN, Chris was Vice President of Advertising at Sony Pictures Television where he oversaw all aspects of DirecTV's national television advertising business growing revenue from $10 million to over $150 million in less than four years. He also helped build Sony's cable and syndication ad sales division to over $260 million in annual revenue. Chris earned a Business/Finance degree at San Diego State University.
