News 12 Long Island today announced that popular Emmy® Award winning news anchor Jodi Applegate will join its on-air team on February 24th as co-anchor of the 5 p.m. evening newscast with Scott Feldman, and will appear throughout weekday evenings. She formerly anchored WNYW-TV's "Good Day New York."

Applegate has enjoyed a successful career in both network and local news. She got her start hosting "Good Morning Arizona" on KTVK starting in 1993. From there, she moved to anchor positions at MSNBC and "Weekend Today," as well as guest hosting appearances on "Today." In late 1999, she hosted "Later Today" with Florence Henderson and Asha Blake. Applegate returned to her roots in local news in 2001, anchoring the morning news at WFXT-TV in Boston. She then moved to WNYW-TV as anchor of "Good Day New York." Applegate recently received an New York Emmy nomination for Feature News while at FOX 5 for her work as a writer and a producer as well as an on-air personality. Applegate hails from Moon Township, Pennsylvania. She attended New York University, where she received a degree in television and film.
