Selvice: Seven Steps to Abundant Sales and Stellar Customer Service

Wynne Business Spa Consulting, known in the spa and salon industry for innovative business seminars, has released its first DVD training program.

"Selvice: Seven Steps to Abundant Sales and Stellar Customer Service" is an 80-minute employee sales training workshop. It features Peggy Wynne Borgman and Lisa M. Starr, two of the most sought-after educators in the industry.

"Selvice" is a word coined by Wynne Business to express the idea that Selling and Service are two complementary skills--rather than diametrically opposed behaviors.

"Spa and salon employees are often reluctant to 'sell,' believing that this somehow compromises the relationship with the client," explains Starr. "And when you add a recession to the mix, employees are actually afraid to recommend home care products or ask guests to schedule their next appointment."

Borgman sees an important opportunity during the current economic slowdown. "Facilities can leverage their downtime to train their employees. But instead of paying us $3,000 a day for an in-house training for their team, they can purchase a perpetual in-house training for $199."

Borgman made sure the DVD was entertaining and fun for spa and salon employees. It features vignettes, performed by actual spa employees, of the wrong and right way to create rapport with guests, assess their needs, integrate home care recommendations into the treatment experience, and get customers to return.

The DVD is a versatile training tool for busy managers. "Selvice" can be presented in its entirety, or each of the Seven Steps can be presented as its own lesson.

"For example, you can go right to Step Five, "Extend the Invitation," to coach an employee on the specific skills and scripts they need to close sales," explains Borgman.

An introductory excerpt from the DVD can be viewed on You Tube.
