Phurnace Software, Inc., the Java application deployment company, today announced the addition of two software industry veterans to its sales team. David Plunkett and Paul Shomper both come from the IT and development tools industry, and join Phurnace as senior sales engineer and senior account executive, respectively.
"David and Paul are proven experts in their field, and bring a deep understanding of the challenges customers face in deploying complex, custom-developed applications," said John Balena, vice president sales and services at Phurnace. Plunkett joins Phurnace from IBM where he was a senior technical specialist primarily responsible for guiding customers through technical evaluations of IBM® Rational® Build Forge®. Prior to IBM, Plunkett held technical sales positions at Intersect Software, Motive Inc., and Parametric Technology Corporation. Plunkett started his career as a systems engineer at IBM.
Shomper was a sales representative at IBM with a specialty in software development and data center tools. He joined IBM to help grow sales after the acquisition of Build Forge, where he went on to be a top performing sales representative. Prior to IBM, Shomper was a sales representative at Hyperion Solutions, Motive Inc., Akamai Technologies and Sun Microsystems. Shomper is also a former officer in the United States Air Force.
