We've already had numerous athletes, both national and international, come to us with their stories of hope and inspiration and we are very excited to produce films that help these athletes share those experiences
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) February 18, 2009
HighRoad Entertainment, the full-service entertainment company that produces, distributes, markets, and supports entertainment content in all mediums, today announced the launch of a new division -- HighRoad Sports Entertainment. The expansion, which also includes larger office space on the Universal Lot, comes on the heels of the recent completion of three family-friendly sports-oriented films: 'The Perfect Game,' 'Running the Sahara,' and the Burton Snowboards feature documentary 'For Right or Wrong.'
Under the HighRoad Sports Entertainment division, the company is already adapting a best-selling memoir based on an iconic racecar driver and is optioning two additional properties centered on football and baseball. HighRoad Sports Entertainment will be accessing individual contacts and sports teams to find the most compelling and inspirational sports-themed content it can bring to the screen. Storylines will center on other action sports as well including, but not limited to, basketball, soccer, and Nascar. Official announcements on these projects to follow.
Partner at HighRoad Entertainment, Christian Tureaud, will serve as President of the division. As a former athlete himself and son of an NFL athlete, Tureaud, translated his 'Love of the Game' into the business world having founded and established three successful, sports-oriented businesses including Pro Sport Marketing, CyberAction.com, and 4th Quarter Entertainment. Prior to HighRoad Entertainment, Tureaud spent 5 years as EVP of Mandalay Integrated Media Entertainment.
"The Sports and Entertainment Industries are tied together in many ways: they both have this amazing potential to have a property, (Team, Film, Television, other Media Asset) hit on all cylinders and realize this huge intrinsic value. Plus the stories that come out of the sports world of teams or individuals overcoming all odds to win, or make a change in the World, made it a natural decision to launch a sports division," said David Salzberg, President of HighRoad Entertainment. "We've already had numerous athletes, both national and international, come to us with their stories of hope and inspiration and we are very excited to produce films that help these athletes share those experiences," added Partner, Christian Tureaud.
Having come from backgrounds strong in Sports Entertainment, the seasoned Salzberg, former President of Mandalay Sports Action Entertainment and Mandalay Integrated Media Entertainment and Tureaud have utilized their expertise in creative development, production, financing, distribution, and marketing for various entertainment properties. They have most recently completed family-friendly film, The Perfect Game, which tells the story of the 1957 Little League World Series that was won by a rag tag team from Monterrey, Mexico, marking the first time a team from outside the United States to win the World Series. Film was directed by William Dear (Harry And The Hendersons, Wild America), who enjoyed success with his baseball features Angels In The Outfield and The Sandlot 3, and is set for release in late 2009.
Continuing with their mission to provide viewers with family-friendly content that emotionally resonates with an audience, HighRoad Entertainment recently announced an option for Angel of Oxnard, a story of faith, tortillas and a home shopping network, with Cheech Marin attached to direct and star. The duo also recently helmed distribution deal with Showtime for the feature documentary which they Co-Executive Produced, 'Running the Sahara,' now airing. The film, which follows three men in their attempt to become the first humans to run coast to coast across the Sahara Desert, is narrated and Executive Produced by Academy Award Winner Matt Damon and directed by Academy Award Winner James Moll and has raised millions of dollars in support of charity, H2O Africa.
