Earlier in his career, Bob practiced Emergency Medicine and Family Medicine and since 1982 practiced law in Houston. In addition to his law practice, Bob has served as an instructor at South Texas College of Law and the Texas College of Trial Advocacy.

Bob received his Bachelor of Arts Degree with honors in Actuarial Mathematics and Economics from Hunter College and studied Business and Operations Research at Stevens Institute. He received his Doctor of Medicine degree from Baylor College of Medicine. He also received a Doctorate in Jurisprudence with highest honors from South Texas College of Law and a Master of Laws Degree from the University of Houston Bates School of Law. Bob has been inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa, Pi Mu Epsilon, and Order of Lytae honor societies. He is a member of the Houston Bar Association and a Fellow of the Houston Bar Foundation.
