ARS Technologies, Inc., announces the release and the general availability for purchase from our customers of two new products in the SSI2 line of products - the 3 connector 'SSI2 ISA X3' and 'SSI2 PCI X3' products.

Peripheral cards based on a variety of computer system buses, are used to increase the functionality and add features in the standard computer systems.

The 'SSI2 ISA X3' product allows using up to 3 ISA bus peripheral cards on desktop and notebook computers.

The ISA bus has disappeared from the mainstream computer systems sold today. However ISA bus peripheral cards are still developed and used in the embedded, industrial, medical, scientific, and military markets. In addition, there is a large area of applications using previously purchased ISA bus peripheral cards.

These users still want to use ISA bus peripheral cards on the modern computer hardware and on modern operating systems. Our 'SSI2 ISA X3' product allows continuing of using of multiple ISA bus peripheral cards.

The 'SSI2 PCI X3' product allows using up to 3 PCI bus peripheral cards on desktop and notebook computers.

The PCI bus has been the mainstream computer peripheral bus - available on desktop computer systems. However the number of desktop computer systems has fallen behind the number of notebook computer systems - which experience rapidly increasing growth. Notebook systems do not allow PCI bus peripheral cards.

In addition, desktop computers increasingly come with smaller and smaller number of PCI slots - 3, 2, or 1, because of the shrinking size of the desktop box, and being replaced with PCI Express slots.

USB based peripherals have massively overtaken the application and use of PCI bus peripheral cards.
However the USB and the PCI bus protocols are vastly different - requiring a large effort to develop a USB product, making the transition increasingly difficult.

Our 'SSI2 PCI X3' product allows continuing of using of multiple PCI bus peripheral cards.

A specific host card, depending on the computer system - a desktop or a notebook, is needed in order to use the 'SSI2 ISA X3' and 'SSI2 PCI X3' products.

The SSI2 line of products including the 'SSI2 ISA X3' and 'SSI2 PCI X3' products work on all of the environments we support:

  • Windows - 98, ME, 2000, XP, Server 2003, Vista, Server 2008 / 32bit and 64bit releases
