IT automation platform to improve PC and internet services for library staff and users.

Kaseya is ideally suited to our dispersed network. The technology can be deployed and staff trained within a very fast timeframe, so support services are provided immediately.

Kaseya (http://www.kaseya.co.uk), the leading global provider of information technology (IT) automation software for IT solution providers and corporate organisations, today announced that East Dunbartonshire Council has selected Kaseya's IT automation platform to enhance IT support services for its People's Network. Kaseya will enable the People's Network Support Officer to centralise, simplify and automate systems management across 14 sites, to provide staff with dependable access to library systems and ensure any issues with public computers in libraries and community centres are resolved quickly, to ensure the best possible service for over 110,000 people across the area.

The People's Network provides free access to a range of ICT services, including the Internet and online resources within the libraries and community centres. East Dunbartonshire has eight libraries, plus a mobile and housebound service and four community centres, through which users can access some 230,000 books and 18,500 audio-visual items. Each library and centre provides a number of PCs for public use, which require IT support for regular updates and occasional fixes. Previously, the People's Network Support Officer had to travel to every PC individually to perform these tasks, but using Kaseya the People's Network Support Officer will be able to monitor, manage and support all the desktop PCs and laptops simultaneously, through a single integrated web-based interface.

Using Kaseya, the Council will be able to plan, control, analyse and automate IT tasks and procedures remotely, so patch management, asset management and software upgrades can be completed without negatively impacting computer availability for users. The team's audit capability will be improved, through the ability to review all hardware and software across sites, so hardware replacement and new software roll-outs can be planned with ease.

Kaseya will be able to assist East Dunbartonshire with its remit to become more 'green' with its systems and processes. The council is required to be as environmentally friendly as possible, while still delivering excellent service and meeting the demands of the public. The significant decrease in travel to install and update software and carry out fault resolution will reduce the council's carbon footprint dramatically. The software will also facilitate PC and network monitoring and desktop control, so trends can be highlighted and make the council more proactive at conserving energy.

According to Yvonne Aitchison, People's Network Support Officer at East Dunbartonshire Council, Kaseya provided the most cost effective and scalable solution on the market: "Kaseya is ideally suited to our dispersed network. The technology can be deployed and staff trained within a very fast timeframe, so support services are provided immediately."

"Right from our initial contact, Kaseya provided excellent customer service, giving us all of the information we required and support on how to get the most out of the platform," adds Yvonne. By automating our IT support function we will be able to dramatically accelerate the support cycle so that IT issues are remedied almost instantly and the public can get the most out of our libraries."
Phil Sansom, VP EMEA Sales, Kaseya, comments: "At a time when efficiency and cost effectiveness are at the forefront of many businesses' concerns, East Dunbartonshire Council is setting an excellent example to other Councils by taking pro-active steps towards optimising both labour and expenditure, whilst at the same time improving the service they can offer the public."
