Today marks the launch of the third UK Search Engine Marketing Survey undertaken by Guava in partnership with Econsultancy. The data taken from over 1,000 digital marketers, including agencies and individuals, will be compiled in a report to be released later this year -- and will be distributed amongst those who took part.
The last report highlighted some interesting trends and changes in the industry between 2007 and 2008, findings included:
- Exclusive in-house PPC and SEO declined, whilst agency work increased.
- Landing page optimisation increased from 71% to 76%.
- Copywriting was the biggest climbing service, now offered by 81% of agencies.
- Over half of companies began using, or planned to use, Facebook as a part of their marketing strategy.
This year, certain factors such as the general economic downturn will have had an affect on the industry. It will be intriguing to see what are becoming considered the most economically viable services and also where cutbacks have been made.
Additionally, the continued rise of social networks suggest that they have become even more integral to campaigns. Particularly the new found importance of microblogging platform, Twitter (which was only used by 3% of companies last year), will have no doubt made an impact on overall strategies.
