Company Successfully Makes the Transition from a PEO to CheckPoint HR

CheckPoint HR has a very robust system and it offers more features for us as a mid-sized company. Additionally, CheckPoint HR's insurance affiliate, The Wilshire Group, offered us a broad range of employee benefits procurement solutions and plans.

CheckPoint HR, a trusted advisor empowering small and medium size businesses in managing their human capital throughout the entire employee life cycle, today announced that Robison Oil - Westchester, New York's largest full service oil company - is automating its HR functions using the CheckPoint HR Web-based Human Resource Management System (HRMS) technology platform.

With 200 employees based in locations around the New York region, Robison Oil sought a centralized Web-based system that would eliminate the complexities associated with managing employee data, payroll, and benefits administrations across multiple locations. Prior to selecting CheckPoint HR, Robison Oil had a professional employer organization (PEO) providing outsourcing of payroll, workers' compensation, HR and employee benefits administration. While the PEO model was beneficial at first, it turned out to be unsuccessful in the long run for Robison Oil.

"When we decided to leave our original PEO model, we went out and searched for a payroll system, as well as a solution that could replace our benefits," explained Dan Singer, COO of Robison Oil. "We looked at a lot of different packages, but CheckPoint HR was the most unique company that we came across. CheckPoint HR was able to provide us with all of the positives that we were getting out of the PEO, was even more effective, and still allowed us to shop for the best deal on health insurance."

Robison Oil began facing challenges with its PEO model during its second year of the program. While the bundling of services was a benefit, the savings on health insurance was not what Robison Oil perceived it to be. In fact, the program became unstable enough where Robison Oil knew that it was time for a change. The company searched for a payroll system, as well as an avenue to replace benefits administration.

"Our number one goal was to make sure that our payroll administration was being done consistently and accurately, in a way that was understandable to our HR person, as well as to our employees," stated Mr. Singer. "CheckPoint HR has a very robust system and it offers more features for us as a mid-sized company. Additionally, CheckPoint HR's insurance affiliate, The Wilshire Group, offered us a broad range of employee benefits procurement solutions and plans."

Robison Oil began implementation in December 2007 and immediately saw the benefits of an online system. With CheckPoint HR's 24-7 online access, employees are able to update personnel information, view electronic payroll history, health benefits, track vacation and paid time off requests, company assets, and employment reviews at any time, from any location. Also, the report generation is far superior to what Robison Oil had with its PEO model in place.

In addition to CheckPoint HR being a compelling financial decision, Robison Oil has also noticed a number of benefits from the solution itself. These benefits include empowering employees with self-service capabilities, providing an easy-to-use interface for employees and the HR staff, and providing accessibility to CheckPoint HR personnel.

"Our Web-based solution is perfect for mid-size organizations such as Robison Oil because it allows those in charge of HR and payroll to drive and control the system just as if they purchased software, but at a fraction of the cost," explained Steve Tessler, vice-president of sales New York region, CheckPoint HR. "With our total HR and benefits solution in place, Robison Oil is able to deliver the world-class services it provides to its employees while reducing payroll and benefits costs and improving operational efficiencies."
