Newly launched fashion web site Orecast (http://www.orecast.com) puts fashionable, handpicked goods for any weather at shoppers' fingertips, effectively answering the age-old question, "What should I wear today?" with the simple click of a mouse. The unique online shopping resource allows consumers to enter their hometown zip code to receive recommendations for the best apparel, accessories and other goods based on the current and upcoming weather in their area.
"Fashion and weather are two things that are always changing, so I wanted to create a place where people could track them together to help manage and inform their daily fashion choices," said Katherine Leu, founder of Orecast.com. "Orecast aims to not only provide users with fun, practical advice for dressing according to the weather forecast, but also help them discover new, independent labels, designers and products on the web."
Whether they're headed to the airport, the office or the park, all consumers will find a wide range of stylish items for any weather on Orecast.com, including apparel, outerwear, footwear, sunglasses and other fashion and lifestyle accessories, along with weekly weather forecasts to help plan their daily wardrobe. Users can sort products according to style and type of attire (business, casual, active, etc.), and each item is coded with colored icons indicating its performance in a variety of climate conditions, such as temperature, humidity and wind.
Travelers who are planning business or personal trips to U.S. cities with different weather patterns will find the web site extremely useful when preparing what to pack, and they can also shop for items that are specific to the elements of their destination city, such as a waterproof windbreaker for camping in the mountains or the hottest new sunglasses for a trip to sunny California.
Additionally, Orecast.com offers a password-protected area, where users are able to create a username and password and set preferences to receive personalized product recommendations. Users are also invited to sign up for the Orecaster newsletter, which is slated to launch later this year and will serve up free weekly weather forecasts and tips on what to wear.
Items featured on Orecast.com are currently handpicked and recommended by a team of design insiders, including Leu, who is a graduate of New York City's Cooper Union. The web site also welcomes submissions from brands via the web site.
