It was on a cool February evening when the advertising industry's best came together in South Florida's most unique art house. It was Friday night at Fort Lauderdale's Cinema Paradiso when Windmill Advertising Group, a full-service advertising agency with a business model based on a "traditional ad agency" philosophy with an edge, received the coveted "Best of Show" at the 2009 ADDY® Awards hosted by The Greater Fort Lauderdale Advertising Federation. In addition, they received an impressive 16 ADDY's - almost twice as many as any other agency. This is the third year running that this four-year old agency has swept this prestigious competition.

"It's exciting, once again, to be recognized as one of Fort Lauderdale's best in terms of creative talent," said James McDonnell, Owner and CEO. "Windmill prides itself on providing innovative marketing solutions with a strong creative edge; however, what makes us unique is the level of strategic marketing and account service that we provide to our clients."

Scott Eble, the agency's Executive Creative Director went on to say that "what was most impressive is that we won as many awards as we did in such diverse categories. The advertising industry has changed dramatically. It's no longer a broadcast or print world - an agency needs to use all media to drive their audience to the web."

The Best of Show award was a perfect example of Windmill's philosophy. It was a multi-media advertising campaign for their client, AIG Baker's gulf coast resort. The name of the project was, "The Wharf" and the campaign was designed to highlight "Favorite Wharf Memories." The creative execution included print, broadcast, direct mail, point-of-sales, and out-of-home. All media messages featured a strong call to action geared to drive viewers to send a text message for more information or go online and share their own "Favorite Wharf Memory." A special interactive website was created where visitors could create their favorite Wharf memory and future visitors would have a vehicle to help plan their "Wharf-a-cation" - a term Windmill coined for the resort.

The 16 ADDY'S were awarded in various categories for a diverse clientele including trade and consumer advertising, interactive marketing, out-of-home, sales promotions, collateral materials, corporate branding, interactive media, as well as public service campaigns.
