Aliso Viejo, CA (Vocus) February 27, 2009
Hilosoft today announced a consulting project with Vubiq, Inc., a millimeter wave company focused on wireless applications utilizing the globally unlicensed 60 GHz frequency band. In April, Vubiq will introduce a disruptive product at the NAB Show in Las Vegas – a wireless video link capable of sending uncompressed high definition video up to 100 meters. "Vubiq's leading edge technology and unique products for professional video will have an enormous impact on the industry," said Gary Beeson, President of Hilosoft, "and with Hilosoft's marketing strengths and industry-specific knowledge, we will complement their technical expertise to bring customer-focused products to this very important market."
Vubiq, located in Aliso Viejo, CA, will introduce the VuLink VL300 to the professional and broadcast video market at the NAB Show. This wireless video link product is capable of sending full uncompressed high definition video at speeds up to 1.485 gigabits per second, and is the only product currently on the market capable of achieving these data rates. In addition, the VuLink VL300 will transport this video up to 100 meters with zero latency, no interference, no compression, and no channel coding. "Other wireless video solutions on the market today operate at much lower frequencies with much narrower channels. This requires them to use various tricks such as compression, channel coding, and bit elimination in order to get the video through their narrow pipe," stated Adam Button, Vubiq's CEO. "All of these techniques have a negative impact on the quality of the video at the receiving end of the link. Vubiq's solution is the only one on the market that ensures every single bit is sent and received." In addition to superior video quality, Vubiq's solution also involves no latency, and due to the directionality of the beam, virtual assurance of no interference. "Vubiq's video link is actually faster than fiber or cable," stated Vubiq CTO Michael Pettus. "Since we do not need to include additional processing for compression or coding, our system gets the video to the other end of the link faster than it would over a 100 meter long fiber optic cable. Thus, lag time is not an issue. One other benefit of uncompressed video is that on-the-fly editing is much easier."
"With Hilosoft's strong background in dealing with early stage companies, combined with their extensive background in professional video, it was a natural fit for Vubiq to join together with Hilosoft for the market introduction of the VuLink product," said Button. "We have already received a number of pre-orders, and anticipate a very favorable reception at the NAB Show."
