Technology Solutions from InterAct Public Safety Eligible for Purchase with Funds from the Recently Passed Economic Stimulus Bill

Billions of dollars are allocated for public safety spending.

Winston-Salem, NC (PRWEB) March 4, 2009 -- InterAct Public Safety, a leading provider of comprehensive public safety solutions for local, state and federal government agencies, is prepared to help police, fire and medical organizations make much needed equipment and IT improvements as authorized by the recently passed economic stimulus bill, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act designate funds from $4 billion to $13.8 billion for local public safety spending. Exact budget figures depend on how states will spend the 18.2 percent of the State Fiscal Stabilization Fund allocated for "public safety and other government services." IT enhancements, radio and 9-1-1 systems, Computer Aided Dispatch, records management and automated notification systems all appear on state and local government project "wish lists" to improve and enhance current technology for emergency response personnel.

Two law enforcement grant programs, Byrne/JAG grants and the COPS grants will receive significant increases through the stimulus bill, with some of the money being dedicated to "planning, evaluation and technology improvement programs" for law enforcement agencies. Byrne/JAG will receive $2 billion in stimulus funds while COPS will receive $1 billion in new funding. The stimulus package also includes $210 million for modernizing old fire facilities and building new ones.

"InterAct's emergency communication solutions addresses preparedness and response challenges that emergency personnel are facing even as their budgets are being squeezed to their tightest levels in decades," says Ted Collins, president and CEO of InterAct Public Safety. "With between $4 billion and $13 billion included in the economic stimulus bill, we are in a great position to help first responders around the country make much-needed modernization and technology improvement investments to help them better respond to the needs of their communities."
