Tight Job Market Spurs Business Consulting Group To Team Up with The Homemaker CEO to Help Corporate Refugees Get to Work

The current job market is creating reluctant entrepreneurs. Where previously families had the option of a stay at home parent, the lack of corporate, salaried positions available has forced some into self-employment. A local business consulting company comprised of corporate escapees is reaching out to help the new flood of corporate refugees and their spouses.

Right now they are looking for ways to help secure their families' finances. The jobs aren't out there, so they pretty much have to create one for themselves. We want to show them they can do it without spending money they don't have

McKinney-based Brains By The Hour has teamed up with author and speaker Teresa Lusk, The Homemaker CEO, to host the Today's At-Home Executive Workshop sponsored by McKinney Woman Magazine. The mini-workshop is geared for corporate refugees trying to bridge the gap until the job market opens up, stay-at-home moms who would like to use their skills and talents to contribute to the household income, and also existing small business owners looking for a couple new tips.

"Right now they are looking for ways to help secure their families' finances. The jobs aren't out there, so they pretty much have to create one for themselves. We want to show them they can do it without spending money they don't have," says Lillian Taylor-Blackmon, President of Brains By The Hour.

The workshop will offer practical advice on choosing the right business, the basics of starting a small business including bookkeeping and taxes, no-cost effective marketing, and common but costly mistakes to avoid.

Teresa Lusk, The Homemaker CEO™ (http://www.homemakerceo.com), will provide valuable tips on finding your calling using your existing talents and how to turn that into a successful business. For those looking for a ready-made business, there will be representatives from companies that offer small business ownership from insurance companies to party-based businesses. Childcare is available if reserved in advance.
