A website created in England and aimed at single and non resident dads is proving to be a huge success among single and happily married parents in America.
Over seventy per cent of visitors to the website http://www.dadcando.com are from America and the numbers are growing with tens of thousands of visitors from the USA each week.
"We can always tell when America comes on-line," says http://www.dadcando.com founder Chris Barnardo, "as our web stats go through the roof."
http://www.dadcando.com is a website aimed at encouraging single dads to have the best possible relationship with their children. It has over 350 beautiful and easy to make craft based projects - many of which are perfect for parents managing on a tight budget as they are made from recycled throw-away household items. It also has simple, no weigh food recipes and an advice section to help single dads cope with their unique situations.
"The reasons why the site is so popular with American families is not immediately obvious," says Chris Barnardo adding: "It's likely to be a combination of factors that are not so evident here in the UK. For example, Americans, particularly outside large cities, have very strong home and family values. Many Americans still place an emphasis on the importance of religious beliefs and of strong family values." Chris, who has travelled extensively in the US adds, "The American mums and dads I meet seem to be very good at developing a 'can do' attitude among their children and have an enormous sense of community.
"All this suggests that Americans are more likely to do things together, and as http://www.dadcando.com is essentially about helping dads (and mums) get the most out of the time they spend with their kids, the message rings true whether you are a single dad or happily married with a large family.
As two American mothers posted on the site recently:
"I just found your site and have been looking it over. I have never seen a site with such solid affirmative goals and ideals - nor have I seen one that is succeeding so well in accomplishing its goals. Kudos to you, from a happily married creative American mother of four."
Another wrote to say:
"…this is the best site I have come across in years. My husband is a wonderful devoted dad and it's hard for him to find resources for dads. This site is amazing. It is so nice to see a site recognizing the importance of Daddies in kids' lives. The wonderful activities and ideas will keep him busy with fun things for just him and the kids. There needs to be more sites like this."
