New Memoir Details One Woman's Escape from an Abusive Past and the Road that Took Her to Find Her Own Inner Peace

Karen Walker's new book is at once heartbreaking and hopeful. Raised in an abusive environment and living through an incident of molestation, Walker found herself in a broken marriage at age 19. Eventually she lost custody of her son and, along with it, her sense of self. Walker tells how she was able to start all over, again and again. An inspirational story of renewal, just in time for Spring.

Minneapolis, MN (PRWEB) March 5, 2009 -- 'Following The Whispers' is Karen Walker's triumphant life journey filled with heartache and painstaking decisions that ultimately, though not easily, led her to a place of inner peace, love and self-acceptance.

In 1956, Karen Walker was a seven year-old little girl living in a chaotic, and often loveless environment in Queens, New York. Her parents' perpetual fighting and verbal abuse coupled with an incident of molestation, created a child whose soul yearned for love, security and acceptance. The search for love led to an ill-fated marriage at age nineteen that eventually fell apart. In 1977, through an unjust system, Karen lost custody of her only child and grew even more lonely and desperate.

In 1984, in an effort to begin again, she and her business partner moved cross-country to Portland, Oregon, where she began to rebuild her life and eventually marry again. But, ignoring her inner voice, Karen soon found her business, the relationship with her son and her second marriage also falling apart.

'Following The Whispers' is Karen's heartfelt story documenting decisions built on self hatred and doubt versus those that were guided by Spirit. Ultimately, when she began listening to Spirit, Karen found herself surrounded by peace and love - - with herself, her parents, her son, and her soul mate. Karen's honesty and soul baring wins readers' empathy and respect as we see aspects of ourselves in many of her revealing and well documented experiences.
