TSSI Adds Disaster Preparedness/Humanitarian Relief Experts to its Advisory Group of Industry Leaders

The two individuals, former American Red Cross official Dr. Darlene Sparks Washington and PROJECT C.U.R.E. executive Joe Miklosi, will join an advisory group that includes an already-impressive list of forward-looking leaders with emergency management, operational security and logistics/supply chain management experience. Miklosi is also a member of the Colorado State Legislature.

In making the announcement, TSSI President and CEO Don L. Rondeau, noted that the addition of Dr. Sparks Washington and Representative Miklosi will, "further position TSSI to be a truly 'one-stop shop' for expertise in preparing for and responding to all natural disasters, complex emergencies or terrorist threats."

"Dr. Sparks Washington and State Representative Miklosi both share our vision that in this day and age, to be truly protected and prepared, our Nation must engage both the public and the private sectors," stated Rondeau. Darlene Sparks Washington, D.P.M., is a seasoned administrator and decisive leader with proven success in strategy development, innovation and change management. A renowned and much sought-after media spokesperson on disaster preparedness, Sparks Washington's career includes nearly 20 years of service at the American Red Cross.

Her most recent position at the Red Cross was Director of Preparedness at the organization's National Headquarters. In this capacity, Dr. Sparks Washington was responsible for leading, managing and administering the organization's national disaster preparedness efforts, including coordinating with local Red Cross chapters in delivering disaster education programs to 5 million people each year.

She also led the enterprise-wide efforts for pandemic flu planning and preparedness, working with corporate business units to identify and address education, service delivery and continuity of operations parameters and plans.

Rep. Miklosi (D-Denver) brings to TSSI real-world experience and an understanding of successful international humanitarian aid missions. This knowledge comes from his work with PROJECT C.U.R.E., the largest collector and distributor of donated medical supplies and equipment to needy hospitals and health care clinics in 125 developing nations around the world. He serves the 9th House District in the Colorado State Legislature, and is a member of the Judiciary Committee and the State, Veterans, & Military Affairs Committee.

In addition, Rep. Miklosi has ten years of public policy and grass-roots political experience in both Washington, D.C. and Colorado. He offers TSSI strong business development credentials having successfully worked for six years in the information technology sector, where he helped start an Internet software company.

Sparks Washington and Miklosi join an existing CIPSAG roster of exceptional leaders from across the homeland security spectrum. This list includes Joe M. Allbaugh, former Director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA); General Wallace C. Arnold (Ret.), former Army Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff for Personnel; Jeffrey K.
