We are committed to helping the RFID industry succeed and provide measurable value to end users. One way to do that is to cut through the marketing hype and provide real answers, informed education and trusted leadership
Sarasota, FL (PRWEB) March 5, 2009
At the Financial Services Technology Consortium (http://www.FSTC.org) annual conference the new "Ask the RFID Expert" web-based RFID answer service was unveiled. The service went live today on ODIN's revamped home page http://www.odintechnologies.com . The service provides access to the world's foremost authorities on radio frequency identification (RFID) free of charge. Users can go to the website, enter their email address and ask a question of ODIN's engineering team. Answers will be posted within 24 hours on the "Ask the RFID Expert" page or sent directly via email.
Depending on the question, ODIN's technical team may ask clarifying questions, simply post an answer or point the questioner to additional information sources. The "Ask the RFID Expert" service will answer end user RFID questions across a range of RFID technologies including passive LF, HF, UHF and 2.45 GHz as well as active solutions in the LF, UHF, 2.45 GHz and Ultra-Wideband frequencies. All questions are welcome. The solution is designed to provide end users with unbiased, fact-based feedback to a broad range of RFID inquiries.
"We are committed to helping the RFID industry succeed and provide measurable value to end users. One way to do that is to cut through the marketing hype and provide real answers, informed education and trusted leadership," commented Patrick J. Sweeney II ODIN's founder and author of RFID for Dummies. He added, "ODIN has built a reputation as the RFID industry's honest broker by providing vendor-neutral guidance backed up by scientific fact. From our two educational and training books to dozens of Research Benchmarks ODIN is known for straight answers that help RFID vendors improve and end users succeed."
According to CompTIA, ODIN has more CompTIA RFID+ certified engineers than any other company. The ODIN team also features one of the inventors of the electronic product code (EPC) protocol. The EPC is widely used today for RFID implementations from Wal-Mart to the US Department of Defense. In 2006 Sweeney was awarded CompTIA's industry leadership award for his work in RFID. The same year ODIN was awarded the US Department of Commerce's sole award for Technology Innovation.
"Technology breakthroughs in the last eight months have spurred RFID adoption particularly for IT Asset tracking, medical device tracking, aerospace parts and industrial work-in-process. We are seeing a lot of questions about everything from new metal mount tags and five cent tags from China to low cost readers and extraordinary location accuracy with passive RFID. End-users will benefit from fact-based insight from objective RFID experts," added Sweeney.
ODIN's new website features a rich media format with more content designed to help end-users educate themselves on subjects ranging from RFID technology to Return on Investment (ROI). The site has informative white papers, how-to articles, introductory videos and more. The new site is segmented based on ODIN's extensive experience in - government, aerospace, healthcare, IT Asset tracking, and solutions for integrators or companies implementing RFID on their own. The "Ask the RFID Expert" page already provides answers to some common questions. Visit the ODIN site at http://www.odintechnologies.com/ and click on the Ask the RFID Expert text in the upper right hand corner.
For end users seeking a more in-depth educational experience join ODIN's experts along with others from MIT, Airbus, and Johnson & Johnson at a pre-conference session entitled The Fundamentals of RFID Success (http://www.rfidjournalevents.com/live/preconference.php?sectionID=41&trackID=19 ) at the industry leading RFID Journal Live conference April 27, 2009.
