Too often we see hospitals giving away charity care dollars to patients who are Medicaid eligible. This takes away much needed reimbursement to the hospital and does not help the patient with possible future medical bills.

R&B Solutions Rapid Application for Medical Programs (RAMP), a copyrighted and trademarked web-based and stand-alone software solution that automates the process for determining Medicaid and Charity Care eligibility and delivers credit information, is proud to announce their selection as a preferred vendor by Illinois Critical Access Hospital Network (ICAHN).
"The ICAHN CFO Advisory Council selected R&B Solution's RAMP applications as the product of choice for its member hospitals primarily because it was an affordable, Internet-based system." Said Kara Jo Carson a member of the CFO advisory Council that selected RAMP and CFO of Pinckneyville Community Hospital. Kara went on to say, "The RAMP application provided the automated charity application and payment probability features that we were looking for in addition to providing automated applications for government funding programs such as Medicaid. ICAHN hospitals already have good charity programs in place to assist patients with the inability to pay for medical care; however, we would like to help lessen the burden even further for patients by assisting them with completing necessary applications and enrollment forms. We hope that by implementing automated processes with a product such as RAMP, patients will feel less intimidated about the charity application process and will receive the assistance they need."
"Many hospitals continue to be pressured into increasing their charity care but as a company we realize that the focus of all hospitals should be assisting a patient in enrolling in programs such as Medicaid, not just charity care write offs" Said Lynne Schiffke, Vice President of R&B Solutions, Inc. "Too often we see hospitals giving away charity care dollars to patients who are Medicaid eligible. This takes away much needed reimbursement to the hospital and does not help the patient with possible future medical bills."
The RAMP program was developed as a result of R&B's experience with the application process for Charity Care and Medicaid through its Medicaid Advocacy and Solutions for Uninsured Patients departments. For over 20 years, R&B Solutions has supplemented hospital's growing need for Medicaid and other charity applications, and in the process developed its own software to compliment their needs and those of the uninsured that they were assisting. The web-based program helps to correctly identify uninsured patients who are eligible for charity care, Medicaid, Crime Victims, and other public assistance programs, and auto-populates that information into the necessary forms with electronic signature verification. The program vastly improves the timely efficiency crucial to meeting the government deadlines and maintaining a database on such assistance.
"President Obama's administration has set new directions on the critical need to increase efficiency and electronic processes for effective enrollment and assistance for 46 million uninsured in the United States" said Dennis Brebner CEO of R&B Solutions. "RAMP has been developed to assist with this process. We are particularly proud to have been selected by ICAHN which is a critical part of the Health Care System for areas in Illinois that would be without such care."
