CentralDispatch is the greatest thing to happen to my company. I can now buy and sell cars all over the country and it's easy
San Diego (PRWEB) March 9, 2009
CentralDispatch® (http://www.CentralDispatch.com), the automotive industry's online transportation marketplace, today announced the results of their inaugural auto dealer survey. The results show that the majority of CentralDispatch dealer members use online auctions to source pre-owned inventory from around the nation, with only a small minority relying primarily on local auctions to source vehicles. Other survey results suggest that dealers may be using national online auctions due to the increased speed and reliability, and decreased cost of transporting vehicles with the help of online resources, including CentralDispatch.com. CentralDispatch surveyed 1,770 of its dealers about their vehicle sourcing and transportation practices. The survey received a 27% response rate, for a total of 478 dealer respondents.
67% of respondents report that they now frequently source vehicles from online auctions across the U.S. Less than 10% of respondents frequently source vehicles from local auctions. In addition, 3.5% now frequently source vehicles internationally.
"It makes sense for dealers to source vehicles from online auctions around the nation," commented Joe Steinberger, CentralDispatch Vice President of Product and Business Development. "With this reach, dealers can find the perfect vehicle for any consumer because they have access to literally thousands of vehicles at any time. In the past, most dealers' pre-owned inventory was limited to what was on their lot or at the local auction because fast, reliable, cost-effective vehicle transportation could be difficult to find. Now, as the survey results indicate, more dealers are sourcing vehicles nationwide, and vehicles are moving more quickly and less expensively than before."
Over 50% of respondents report that they typically receive the first call from a carrier within two hours of posting vehicles for shipment on CentralDispatch.com. And of all dealers surveyed, nearly 90% receive a carrier call within the first day. 97% of respondents indicate vehicles are typically picked up within 2-3 days of their first carrier contact. Further, 48% of all survey respondents save an average of at least 10% on vehicles shipments using CentralDispatch, and more than one in five respondents save an average of 20% or more for vehicles posted on CentralDispatch.
"CentralDispatch is the greatest thing to happen to my company. I can now buy and sell cars all over the country and it's easy," commented survey respondent Max Lipman of Arena Motor Group. "Before, when I tried to get vehicles moved, I spent more time trying to line up transporters than I did with the sale of the vehicles. Now I just post vehicles that need to be shipped on CentralDispatch and all the work is done-- within five minutes it's booked!"
CentralDispatch.com came online in 1999 as a way for vehicle shippers to easily connect with carriers. It has since transformed the auto transport industry, taking if from relying on paper faxes and phones, to utilizing an efficient central database on the Internet. Today, thousands of dealers, transport brokers, auctions, manufacturers, rental car companies, salvage yards and others access CentralDispatch on a daily basis to move vehicles of all types. CentralDispatch has grown into the largest real-time auto transport marketplace. It enables shippers across North America to save time and money when transporting vehicles by providing access to virtually every licensed interstate car carrier in the United States, more than 5,000 carriers.
