The current economic environment has lead to a dramatic increase in the number of people being served at rescue missions and non-profit food banks. Panama City Beach, Florida (PRWEB) March 10, 2009 -- The current economic environment has lead to a dramatic increase in the number of people being served at rescue missions and non-profit food banks. Oceana Naturals, the exclusive US distributor for MelanSol® 100 percent Natural Skin Care, will use their participation in BeachBlast: Spring Break 2009 to demostrate the benefits of using natural sun care and raise funds to help feed the hungry at their local Rescue Mission.
The Panama City Rescue Mission (www.pcrMission.org ) has served Panama City and Bay County for 36 years. The tough economy has put a financial strain on the Mission. "In 2008, we served 350 meals per day. We now serve nearly 600 meals per day at an average cost of $1.42 each. We are a Christian non-profit ministry and receive no federal, state or city funding," says Rev. Billy Fox, the Executive Director.
"I have contributed to the PC Rescue Mission since my arrival from California five years ago. When I heard about how the economy had affected the Rescue Mission, I wanted to find a way to help," says Michael J. Russ, owner of Oceana Naturals.
Kevin "OG" Ogborn, founder of EnergyX Productions and brainchild of BeachBlast, is providing sponsorship space to Oceana Naturals from March 8th through the 20th. The company is setting up a Tiki Hut to serve as a MelanSol® Sunburn Relief Station to help students suffering from recent sunburn, and demonstrate why MelanSol® Sun Care (www.PureSunscreen.com) takes a completely different approach--preventing sunburn by keeping the body in sync with the sun and the environment. Students will have an opportunity to support PC Rescue Mission efforts by making a donation after receiving relief at the sunburn station or if they purchase a bottle of MelanSol® Skin Care in the Harpoon Harry's T-Shirt Shop. A portion of the proceeds from each sale will be given to the Rescue Mission.
