MailSouth approached Northridge with the vision of creating a new hyper-local community web platform designed to compliment MailSouth's core direct marketing offerings. The new MailSouth concept, named My City Safari, provides an online community built for and by local citizens, allowing both local and national businesses the opportunity to target consumers at the local level by offering special programs, packages, and discounts.
The initial group of pilot My City Safari community websites offers residents of Paducah, KY, Fort Collins, CO, and Champaign-Urbana, IL informative and interactive ways to stay connected to their community. In addition to local business directories, the website offers members of the community the ability to upload photos and videos, provide information about special events, post local announcements, and participate in special contests.
Northridge and MailSouth collaborated on My City Safari from concept to launch, defining strategy, branding, site requirements, and then executing on the systems development, quality assurance, marketing plans, and launch. From a visual perspective, the Northridge Interactive team designed the branding elements including the My City Safari logo and the website user interface designs. Leveraging custom Microsoft .NET programming and the Microsoft SQL Server database platform, the Northridge application development team created the website to allow for user-generated content while also providing content management capabilities for the MailSouth team to effectively manage the multi-site content without technical resources.
Following the pilot launch, MailSouth has engaged with Northridge to provide search engine marketing services that are geo-targeted within the three pilot markets to drive consumers and business owners to the My City Safari website.
