The economic climate is demanding a shift in the way in which we conduct our lives. Commerce is being forced to shift from a secular competitive environment to a more unified global economy. For families and their communities, many of the cherished luxuries of yesterday are being replaced with more practical, ecological lifestyle solutions. Mayor John Stromberg has taken the lead in transitioning Ashland, OR, into becoming a fully "sustainable" city and a role model for other communities to follow. In support of this effort, Humanity Unites Brilliance, a for-profit humanitarian organization is hosting a one-day event featuring Jack Canfield, co-author of #1 Best Selling book "Chicken Soup for the Soul" to help bring sustainable living to the forefront of international concern.

With the recent election of Mayor John Stromberg in Ashland, whose platform includes transitioning Ashland into a fully sustainable community, locals have an exciting new focus--to be a model of "sustainable practices" for other communities to follow. Their challenge: finding an attainable avenue for individuals and families to adequately sustain themselves and prosper in the midst of change within their community, and amidst the trials of a struggling economy.

Humanity Unites Brilliance (HUB), a cutting-edge, for-profit, humanitarian organization is hosting a one-day event with renowned visionaries, authors and experts to address this challenge on Sunday, March 22, 2009 at the Historic Ashland Armory, 208 Oak Street, Ashland. Registration begins at 9:00 a.m., activities begin at 10:00 a.m., and the day is capped by a dynamic concert at 8:00 p.m.

Jack Canfield, co-author of the #1 Best Selling non-fiction book of all time, Chicken Soup for the Soul, will be the Featured Speaker for this event. Jack is also the Founder of the renowned Transformational Leadership Council (TLC). Canfield is also well known for his appearance in the acclaimed movie "The Secret." The event focus is to provide practical tools and resources for creating abundance and sustainability on a personal and local level, while also giving globally. "The key is to tap into resources we've long forgotten. We have for too long looked for answers outside ourselves when in fact the answers lie within". states Canfield.

Another event speaker, Marcia Martin is a Founding Member and Board Member Emeritus of TLC, and was the Vice President of EST, and one of its original Founding Members. She has been a transformational teacher and speaker since the beginning of the Human Potential Movement and has trained over 100,000 people worldwide in transformational leadership and communication skills. Both Canfield and Martin are HUB faculty members.

Other featured speakers will include HUB advisor Elliot Hiller, renowned motivational speaker, international business advisor, and author of the book, All You Need to Know About Everything; along with Ashland resident Spryte Loriano, Chief Humanitarian Officer of HUB and Founder of the non-profit project, Feed333; and Portland resident, Brandon Barnum, President of HUB and Founder and Chairman of the non-profit organization, Giving Globally.

The day's event will be capped by an uplifting, multi-media concert featuring Emmy Award-winning singer/songwriter Faith Rivera, plus local music celebrities Laura Derocher and David Gabriel. Leaders within Humanity Unites Brilliance and the Positive Music Association, these performers will be joined by Laura Berman, Craig Bennelli, Richard Williams and other local talent. 50% of concert proceeds will benefit The Youth Action Committee to provide economic support and retraining of war-torn youth and former child soldiers of Liberia.

Full-day tickets for the conference plus the evening concert are $30 in advance, $40 at the door. (The day's conference is free to all HUB members.) Tickets can be purchased in advance online at http://www.hubhub.org (Events), or at The Music Coop or Soundpeace in Ashland. Without purchasing a full-day ticket, the benefit concert is $20 at the door for HUB members and non-members.
