Westchester Library System to Help Area Businesses Grow

Recognizing the impact of economic challenges on area business owners, WLS has created a new workshop series, Your Business is Our Business. Workshops will be launching at area libraries starting in March 2009.

Tarrytown, NY (PRWEB) March 12, 2009 -- When the going gets tough, the tough get going … to the library. Westchester Library System (WLS) libraries throughout the county are highly regarded for free access to extensive book and media collections, programs, and resource services. Recognizing the impact of economic challenges on area business owners, WLS has created a new workshop series, Your Business is Our Business. Workshops will be launching at area libraries starting in March 2009.

The Your Business is Our Business workshop series introduces members of the Westchester County business community to the extensive business resources at their local libraries. Attendees will learn how to effectively search commercial databases, research trends that impact their industry, review magazines and trade journals, and utilize myriad tools that will enable them to grow their business. Information on the discovery process, competitive research and analysis, industry research, and business plan fundamentals will be particularly relevant for new business owners.

"Your Business is Our Business provides an introduction to the extensive offerings at Westchester libraries," said Kate Meyer, Westchester Library System's special event coordinator. "WLS library staff members are an invaluable resource that can help business owners find the information they need quickly and at no cost."

Your Business is Our Business kicks off with its first workshop on March 26, 2009 at 11:00 am, at Stark Business Solutions, 100 South Bedford Road, Mt. Kisco. The event will be hosted by Mount Kisco Library, which currently is closed for construction.

"Your Business is Our Business is one of our many 50th year initiatives bringing innovative programming and services to WLS members," says Dr. Terry Kirchner, WLS executive director. "By providing access to tools and information, we are equipping area professionals with skills that they need to stay competitive during these challenging economic times."
