There are plenty of stories that I've heard and quilts mean something different to each person. I see this blog as not only a way for me to write about the craft, but to encourage others to share their feelings through the comments section.

These days, it's difficult to find handmade products. Machines and technology have allowed the proliferation of processed items to be the norm. For those who appreciate the joys of handmade crafts, such as quilts, there's an outlet like http://www.MLCThreads.com.
The website's proprietor and namesake, Maple Cooper, has been sewing for her entire life and in the early 90's discovered a fondness for making quilts. Now she's sharing her love of crafting custom quilts with others through her web store.
"Making quilts and sewing is something that I'm always doing and there are a lot of people who've never had or seen a handmade quilt," said Cooper. "Having a handmade quilt can be comforting and I wanted to be able to share that feeling with other people around the world."
Cooper's prices and methods are detailed on her site, but given the amount of time and effort that go into the creation of one of these exemplary pieces of art, she offers affordable prices for unique items like baby quilts, t-shirt quilts, memory quilts, and patchwork quilts.
Though MLCThreads.com launched in August 2008, the site has recently been re-launched, creating a streamlined, user-friendly of the original template and there's even a new blog that Cooper added.
The blog (http://www.MaplesQuilts.com) gives information about the work that goes into a quilt, as well as its significance.
"For some people, a quilt can be something that's passed down or can carry a personal meaning to an individual," explained Cooper. "There are plenty of stories that I've heard and quilts mean something different to each person. I see this blog as not only a way for me to write about the craft, but to encourage others to share their feelings through the comments section."
While the world continues to move forward, Maple Cooper is taking the longstanding American tradition of hand making quilts and ensuring that other people have access to something beautiful that can live on from generation to generation.
