Local PR pro Betsy Martin unveils new twice-weekly e-mail that promises to deliver up-to-the minute info on all that's fabulous in the Mile High City

The perfect lipgloss, the most happening restaurants, the swankiest new boutiques and the hidden gems lurking in unassuming neighborhoods - Denver is filled with one of a kind finds and Reign (http://www.reigndenver.com), a new e-zine and lifestyle newsletter, is here to dish on the latest and greatest that the city has to offer. Developed by local PR veteran Betsy Martin, Reign, heralded as "Denver's Authority on Fabulous," is equal parts fun and functional and fills Colorado's well-heeled women in on what's fashionable in the mile high city. The twice weekly e-mail graces subscriber inboxes every Tuesday and Friday, and delivers a fresh, quick-witted perspective on female-focused lifestyle topics including fashion, beauty, shopping, dining, home, culture and kids. A website featuring the same is set to launch in mid spring, and an archive of the debut issue can be viewed at http://www.reigndenver.com/email/email.html

"As a PR pro and media buyer, I've noticed two major gaps in Denver's market - the first being an immediate, frequent outlet geared exclusively towards women that allows local businesses to share last minute news, the second being very limited places for these small businesses to put their advertising dollars. They want and need to promote themselves but they are looking at budgets of just a few hundred dollars a month, whereas most respected, valuable outlets are well into the thousands," founder and publisher Betsy Martin states. "What's more, targeting the affluent, influential woman that Reign so effectively reaches is difficult. With over a decade of networking and hobnobbing behind me, I can help these businesses connect with the right women. It's about quality readers, not just quantity," she continues.

In a media market where publications are going by the wayside daily, and advertisers are declining exponentially, online and other interactive outlets are holding strong. In 2008, internet advertising grew by over twenty percent, and the total online media spend is expected to reach $147 billion by 2012. Martin's take? "I don't subscribe to the doom and gloom that says print is dead. There is something very real and valuable about picking up a newspaper or a magazine, and I think people acknowledge and appreciate that," she says. "I do believe that online is more cost effective, and for the time being, may be the bridge for the mom and pop shops until they can again put print and broadcast into their media mix," she attests.

As far as readers go, Reign intends to be an outlet and indulgence just as much as an information source. Topics are light hearted and those featured on the e-zine and soon-to-be website are selected with a very discerning eye. Even advertising is by invitation only, the goal being to connect readers with advertisers whose products or services they're highly likely to engage in. The debut issue featured subjects ranging from Denver's best cupcake bakeries, to the latest local mineral makeup line, all the way to children's fashion. Future issues will follow suit and will provide a much-needed distraction for Denver women, whether they're downtown divas, suburban soccer moms or mountain town mavens.

In addition to Reign's e-newsletter and website, Martin intends to eventually host monthly networking events coined "Hello My Name is Fabulous" held exclusively in Denver's small woman oriented businesses such as salons, spas and boutiques, providing yet another opportunity for readers to engage both with advertisers and one another. The inaugural "pink carpet" event is scheduled for late April.

If successful, Martin intends to expand to new cities whose demographics mirror Denver's. Orange Country, California, Phoenix, Portland, Oregon and Austin are currently being considered and the media outlet is planning for a five-market expansion by 2011.

Betsy Martin is available for interviews regarding her new venture, Reign, online media, and lifestyle topics including fashion, beauty, shopping, dining, home, culture and style. For more information or to schedule an interview, please contact betsy(at)reigndenver.com or call 303.818.3114.
