ETAP Real-Time to manage the power system for floating oil production facility.

ETAP Real-Time provides a fully integrated and redundant power management system to control the critical operations of a FPSO

Operation Technology, Inc. (OTI), developers of the ETAP enterprise solution for electrical power systems, has announced that ETAP Real-Time has been implemented as the power management system for the RAROA Floating, Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel operated by Tanker Pacific Offshore Terminals for OMV New Zealand.

The conversion of the FPSO commenced in 2006 in Jurong Shipyard Singapore and oil was first extracted on February 25, 2009 from the Maari field off the coast of New Zealand. With an oil production capacity of 40,000 bbls/day and storage capacity of about 660,000 bbls, RAROA FPSO relies on ETAP Real-Time power management system to meet and exceed the production KPIs through rough seas and tropical cyclones by operating for 15 years without dry docking.

"ETAP Real-Time provides a fully integrated and redundant power management system to control the critical operations of a FPSO," says Shervin Shokooh, Chief Operating Officer for OTI. "With capabilities such as system modeling and analysis, power monitoring, controlled generator overload shedding, fast load preservation, comprehensive system automation and simulation, and an operator-friendly user interface, ETAP Real-Time provides a proven design and operation solution from small to complex floating production systems."

ETAP Intelligent Load Shedding (ILS) is deployed on RAROA FSPO to provide optimal fast load preservation based on actual operating condition of the system, including generation operating status, steam availability, system stability, and load operating conditions and status. ILS dynamically determines the best load shedding priority in just fractions of a second.
