Penguin Computing announced today two fully-integrated NVIDIA Tesla GPU and AMD Shanghai CPU based clusters targeted at technical workgroup computing.
Penguin is now offering an Altus 1702 fully-integrated cluster with four twin 1U compute nodes, four NVIDIA® Tesla™ S1070 GPU Computing Systems, Gigabit Ethernet and Penguin's Scyld management software for $44,985 (configuration Z170034). This system provides over 16 teraflops of compute power in a 9U rack configuration. A cluster option expands the configuration to eight Altus 1702 twin compute nodes and eight Tesla S1070 GPU Computing Systems with over 32 teraflops of performance for less than $89,000. All systems have AMD Opteron 2376 CPU's and 8GB RAM per node, a 24-port GigE switch and a Scyld annual subscription included for each node. Each Tesla S1070 1U GPU Computing System has four Tesla T10 GPUs, each delivering almost one teraflop of single precision and 80 gigaflops of double precision performance.
"These pre-configured GPU + CPU clusters from Penguin Computing deliver an easy-to-use, pre-built and ready-to-go cluster that delivers the unprecedented performance of the massive parallel processing power of NVIDIA Tesla GPUs. IT managers at companies and researchers at universities can now order one of these pre-configured clusters and work with Penguin to customize them to their application set. Penguin's strength in hardware and software cluster management makes the exciting transition to GPU computing even easier," said Sumit Gupta, senior product manager, GPU Computing at NVIDIA.
Penguin's pre-configured Tesla GPU-based clusters enable a quick and easy entry point for customers who have been considering the adoption of GPU technology. Complete in-factory integration of all packaged components also ensures a smooth transition for customers wanting to get up and running as soon as possible. The inclusion of Scyld ClusterWare makes the packaged clusters as easy to manage as a single system and ensures that customers can take advantage of leading edge GPU performance 'out-of-the-box'.
"GPU technology offers superior performance for applications in many areas such as life sciences, manufacturing, finance, signal processing, and image processing. For researchers, scientists and engineers who want to focus on the benefits of GPU computing without having to worry about the complexity of cluster computing, the pre-configured and ready-to-run Tesla GPU clusters are a great opportunity to take performance to the next level at an unparalleled price", says Tom Coull, Senior VP of Product Management and Development at Penguin Computing.
