Wound Be Gone®: Quickly Gaining Strong Support from Clinician Experts in the Field of Wound Healing

Created by Czech scientists, Wound-Be-Gone® is now the only over the counter treatment for chronic and acute wounds. The revolutionary new product features a patented technology that both speeds up the healing process and prevents scar formation.

Bellwood, IL (PRWEB) March 12, 2009 -- Wound Be Gone® is a novel product based on revolutionary technology in the healing of wounds. Based on a unique and patented principle, it is vastly different from current healing products. It has a wide range of uses with essentially no side effect profile or contraindication and contains no antibiotics or material of biological origin.

"Our product is unique in that we were able to manipulate polymer structures as effective traps for free oxygen radicals," explains. Jirí Labský, PhD., one of the two Scientists at The Institute for Macromolecular Chemistry at the Academy of Science of the Czech Republic to whom the patent was awarded. Mr. Labský has worked for 30 years in the contact lens arena, where he conducted research on integrating traps for free oxygen radicals into polymer structures. "In one of our research studies we looked at chemical processes in an eye that was injured by intense UV radiation and measured, in fact, a very high amount of free oxygen radicals. We then developed a contact lens that integrated a trap for these very toxic free oxygen radicals. We found that this lens was able to heal the eye very quickly," continued Mr. Labský.

Following this it was only a small intuitive step to begin using this active ingredient (sterically hindered amines) for other types of wounds. Free oxygen radicals develop in large quantities in any spot where the body is injured and infection processes have begun. The Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry's team was able to incorporate the sterically hindered amines into a polymer matrix called poly(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) - the same polymer used to develop soft contact lenses. Use of polymer matrices has a number of advantages. They are composed of large macromolecules which are interconnected. This prevents the molecules from penetrating the skin and entering the body, thus they remain on the wound's surface. This allows the active ingredient to work in a systematic manner. The gel also contains a large amount of water and helps ensure the so-called "moist healing" process in the wound.

Jeffrey A. Niezgoda, MD, FACHM, FAPWCA, FACEP, a world renowned wound care physician and the Medical Director of the Centers for Comprehensive Wound Care and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy in Milwaukee, Wisconsin has recently confirmed the benefits of Wound Be Gone®.

"I am very pleased to be the first to present the clinical data on this revolutionary new product. My clinical experience with Wound Be Gone® has produced exceptional results with improved wound healing trajectories. Healing success has been achieved in a series of patients with a variety of wound types; burns, trauma, surgical wounds and chronic slow-healing wounds such as diabetic foot ulcers and venous ulcers. Wound Be Gone® has demonstrated excellent patient toleration and improved wound healing. Additional benefits I have found include reduced pain and enhanced patient comfort and ease of application."

Wound Be Gone® is placing wound care into the hands of people who might otherwise suffer or whose wound problems might escalate to need for expensive invasive medical intervention. Wound Be Gone® is proving to be very effective for both acute as well as chronic wounds such as venous ulcers, pressure ulcers, diabetic ulcers and post operative wounds.
