Sport Court® Donates Playing Surface To Irish High School: Bishop Desmond Tutu Makes Dedication

Another boost for the fast-growing sport of futsal

Dublin, Ireland (PRWEB) March 20, 2009 -- With Archbishop Desmond Tutu offering an official blessing, a bright yellow and blue Sport Court® futsal surface was donated to the Trinity Comprehensive School in Ballymun, a local Dublin high school in need of a sports surface.

Connor Sport Court International manufactured the Dublin playing surface at its headquarters and production facility in Salt Lake City.

The arrangement for the donation was made by the Football Association of Ireland (FAI), John Delany, Chief Executive and National Futsal Director Derek O'Neil. The new facility was named the BRL/Umbro National Futsal Arena, and will be the home of the Republic of Ireland's national futsal team as well as a resource for the school.

"The FAI and Connor Sport Court are interested in developing and promoting the internationally-growing sport of futsal, a fast-moving version of soccer," said Ron Cerny, President and CEO of Connor Sport Court International. "Bishop Tutu's support brought a large crowd to the dedication, and we are grateful for his endorsement of a sport that builds character and strengthens cultures," said Cerny.

Desmond Tutu is a 1984 winner of the Nobel Prize and is Anglican Archbishop of Cape Town, South Africa, as well as primate of the Anglican Church of Southern Africa. He is founder of the Desmond Tutu Peace Foundation and the Desmond Tutu Educational Fund

Coordination for the contribution was handled by Andrew Gettig, Connor Sport Court's Vice President of International Sales, Salt Lake City in conjunction with CSCI's local representative Peter Herbert of Tembec.
