Brilliant New Plan Will Allow Highway Trees to Produce Clean Renewable Energy

A new development by SolarBotanic Ltd could make every highway a clean energy producing, aesthetically pleasing, harvester of electricity. Each kilometre will be able to generate approximately 350,000 kWh per year, enough electricity to power approximately 60 average size houses and protect the environment by preventing the release of up to 500 tons of CO2 annually. Solar Botanic trees achieve this via their biomimicry concept, Energy Harvesting Trees (EHT). EHT's convert light, heat and wind energy into clean electricity, and do not cause visual pollution or long-lasting damage to our environment or ecosystems.

London, England (PRWEB) March 23, 2009 -- Imagine if you can, highways and freeways lined with beautiful looking trees that not only create a barrier against the elements, but at the same time generate electricity 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

France

Paris - Lyon highway is roughly 460 Kilometres long and good for 32,000 SolarBotanic trees. With an annual electricity output of more than 193 MW, France could reduce its carbon footprint by 145 thousand tons of CO2 per year and produce enough electricity to power over 26,000 average size homes.

Saudi Arabia

Riyadh - Mecca highway is roughly 800 Kilometres long and good for 56,000 SolarBotanic trees. With an annual electricity output of more than 336 MW, Saudi Arabia could reduce its carbon footprint by more than 145 thousand tons of CO2 per year and produce enough electricity to power over 46,000 average size homes.

United States

Las Vegas - San Bernardino highway is roughly 540 Kilometres long and good for 37,000 SolarBotanic trees. With an annual electricity output of more than 226 MW, Nevada could reduce its carbon footprint by more than 168 thousand tons of CO2 per year and produce enough electricity to power over 18,000 average size homes.

Australia

Adelaide - Perth highway is roughly 2700 Kilometres long and good for 189,000 SolarBotanic trees. With an annual electricity output of more than 1.2 GW, Australia could reduce its carbon footprint by more than 900 thousand tons of CO2 per year and produce enough electricity to power over 118,000 average size homes.

England

The M25 ring road which circumnavigates London is 180 kilometres long and is good for 13,000 SolarBotanic trees. With an annual electricity output of more than 65 MW, England could reduce its carbon footprint by more than 48 thousand tons of CO2 per year and produce enough electricity to power over 10,000 average size homes.

The company retains patents and has patents pending covering Biomimicry,Nanoleaf Technology, Energy transfer materials and process, and has confirmed proof of concept criteria as required by investor groups.

www.solarbotanic.com is interested in talking to potential JV partners who have the required sector expertise and funding to take this project from the R&D phase to full commercialization, the company is also looking for agents and distributors in the Middle East and Asia.
