Forget Booking a Swanky Restaurant, Printing Engraved Invitations, or Hiring a Fabulous Band - The Social Media Space is Providing the Perfect Setting for a New Twitter Style of Online Social Event

They met on Twitter and now they're throwing a virtual party on the social media website. Twitterers from Toledo to Texas to The Big Apple are attending a Twitter Party to toast a friend. This Sunday night Twitter party and Webcast promises to put the "social" into social media as new media mavens and gurus tweet it up at the first ever Social Media Soiree in honor of former Martha Stewart editor Deb Puchalla.

Toledo, Ohio (PRWEB) March 20, 2009 -- Twitter has connected a group of high powered Tweeters from across the globe and now they're planning a virtual cocktail party for March 22, at 9 p.m. The bash will use both Twitter and Webcast technology. It's called The Social Media Soiree and it is poised to be a virtual event to remember because the entire Twitterverse is invited.

"The beauty of a party by Twitter hashtag and Webcast is that we can invite absolutely everyone! What could be more social than that," said Kay Ballard (@KayBallard) co-creator of the Social Media Soiree.

"Nothing's better than getting together with the coolest people on the net from the privacy of your own laptop - and you don't even need a designated driver," adds party co-creator Rebecca Regnier (@LaughItOff).

The guest of honor for Sunday night's Social Media Soiree is Deb Puchalla (@debpuchalla.) Martha Stewart fans will recognize Puchalla's name. This young mother of three was most recently the Executive Editor at Martha Stewart Living Magazine and is now making the leap to digital media. Her fabulous new job inspired Ballard and Regnier, two among her sizable network of Twitter friends, to create this new style of online party--a Social Media Soiree.

"We wanted to host a cocktail party so that Deb's Twitter friends could celebrate her achievements, but we live all over the country--and all over the world. Since we met on Twitter, it soon became obvious that we could use Twitter, the social network that brought us together in the first place to connect for a party," said Ballard.

But the Social Media Soiree is not just about Twitter--It is about Deb who moved from a terrific job in print publishing as Executive Editor at Martha Stewart Living to an even more amazing job in digital media.

"We think her insights are valuable since so many of her friends and Twitter followers are also working to move forward in their own careers. This lets them listen in to a party conversation between Deb and other rising stars in new media. Just put up your feet, flip open your laptop and have some fun with us," added Regnier.

Just like any great party some fabulous guests will be on the scene. Celebrity Garden Blogger, Margaret Roach(@Margaret Roach), Social Media Strategist, Laura Fitton(@Pistachio), and Wendy Piersall(@eMom) the Founder & CEO of Sparkplugging will all be on hand for the live Webcast. Some additional Twitter Stars will be popping in with toasts for Puchalla as she begins her new endeavor. Twitter party goers will be able to follow the conversation by adding #soiree to their Tweets to toast Puchalla.
