Are You Connected?® Early Feedback Survey Tells New Leaders Where They Are "Hitting or Missing the Mark" as They Onboard
Connect the Dots Consulting has released its new Are You Connected?® Early Feedback Survey for newly-hired leaders. It provides timely feedback with quantitative and qualitative data which allows the new leaders to know what they must do to successfully integrate into thier new organizations and their new roles. Key stakeholders are given the opportunity to provide feedback about how those new leaders are doing during the first months on the job.

Research states that 40% of newly-hired leaders fail within the first 18 months in their new roles. The primary reasons for this costly problem include, a lack of knowledge about the organization, function and the role; the failure to identify and build key relationships; and the lack of critical early feedback. Best-practice organizations have implemented leadership onboarding processes to address these issues. Most however, neglect the early feedback component because few resources exist to gather and report this type of data. The impact of early feedback includes, speed to performance, cultural alignment, strong stakeholder relationships and increased engagement and retention of key hires.
Are You Connected?® is the only web-based survey designed specifically to provide new leaders with both qualitative and quantitative feedback regarding their transitions into new roles and/or organizations. The survey report shows how the new leaders are being perceived and experienced by their key stakeholders and how they are fitting into the organizational culture. It provides a critical "snap-shot" of the new leaders' onboarding progress and allows for corrections and adjustments before the risk of derailment or failure.
Connect the Dots Consulting has identified 24 behaviors, based on 7 onboarding indicators, that are critical for a new leaders' success as they onboard. Participants are selected in partnership with the new leaders' HR partners and their hiring managers. They are sent a link in an email introducing the process and providing instructions for completing it. Responses are reported by each question, averaged for all raters, and complete comments are also displayed. The finished report is delivered electronically within 48 hours to the HR partner, or hiring manager, along with a template and strategies to address the gaps identified. The data is collected and stored securely and confidentially using web-based technology.
