Due to poverty, war and disease, orphaned children in Nepal are on the rise. With no help from the government, the orphaned children's only option is to search for orphanages where they can live and get educated. But in Nepal, the existing orphanages are overcrowded and can't take in any more newcomers. As a result, the children end up in street, become involved in crime and are vulnerable from being exploited by drug traffickers. Some are even sexually exploited. However, there is hope in Chitwan, a town in the southern region of Nepal, where poverty permeates every corner of the place.
For 4 years, Ashna Orphanage Home has been providing orphaned children a loving and caring environment, where they are nurtured and given skills to survive in life. But the facilities inside hope orphanage have grown overcrowded as the orphanage receives more children everyday. The orphanage regularly turns away many orphans wanting to join them. To expand is the only option the orphanage faces as it tries to care for more children.
Ashna orphanage was opened with the effort of local social workers. Today, the orphanage houses 36 children aged between 5 and 16. But the one-story building of the orphanage is barely sufficient for the existing children. Up to 6 children sleep in a single room on bunk beds. All of them are hurdled together in one room during eating and study time. The facilities in Ashna need to be upgraded.
Global Crossroad is asking volunteers to join in this noble effort to expand hope orphanage. It's planning to build a two-storey building to house at least 20 more orphaned children. This is a great humanitarian endeavor as the fruits of your labor will be enjoyed by destitute children who have no one in this world. The children mostly arrive from remote regions in Nepal and have no where to turn to. There is no doubt that the children will be extremely grateful of your kindness.
Join the project with Global Crossroad's two weeks package. You'll not only participate in the building effort, but tour the city of Kathmandu and safari in Chitwan National Park to spot Tigers. You can also extend your stay and trek to visit Mount Everest, the highest mountain in the world. You'll returned extremely pleased with your contribute in trying to improve the lives of destitute children and satisfied having visited a beautiful country.
