Embotics, the Virtualization Lifecycle Management™ Company, today announced that CEO and Founder Jay Litkey will discuss compliance in the new age of virtualization at SYS-CON's 5th International Virtualization Conference & Expo in New York City. Litkey will identify the challenges involved in a company's compliance and audit process when implementing a virtualized IT infrastructure.
Virtualization technology enables greater agility and business benefits, but necessitates changes to existing compliance and audit procedures. Gathering evidence of compliance is more laborious because virtual servers are mobile and hard to identify, requiring new policy and control systems. The governance, risk and compliance (GRC) systems put in place for physical server compliance, such as configuration, access control and security are still relevant, but need to be adjusted and augmented to be effective in the virtual server space. Litkey will examine how virtualization impacts the overall business architecture as companies scale virtual server environments, specifically in the area of controls and governance.
Prior to Embotics, Litkey founded Symbium, a venture capital funded company focused on autonomic computing and the automated management of IT infrastructures, managing business development and product management. Prior to that, Jay was the founding CEO of BlackholeTV, an Internet public video content aggregation and technology startup that he grew from conception to 45 people and revenue generation.
Virtualization is transforming the way companies do business. Initially, management saw virtualization as a tactical effort led by IT, focused primarily on the initial ROI associated with server consolidation. Today's economic realities are causing organizations to rapidly scale their virtual environments, translating to real bottom line savings by shifting from a technology driven focus to a strategic business approach. However, without effective business architectures and corporate controls, environments can rapidly spin out of control.
