Nonoba, where Flash developers and casual game players come together on the web, today announced that Gustaf Kellner has joined the company as its chief operating officer (COO).

Nonoba is a game-playing community where people chat, relax, socialize, and have fun playing new, innovative single and multiplayer games. The casual gaming community is connected to Nonoba's community of Flash game developers -- enthusiasts to professionals - who want kick-ass development tools, open hosted multiplayer and payment APIs, analytics, and a forum to talk with other developers.

As COO, the former Joost director will be responsible for business development and marketing in addition to overseeing operations worldwide for the company. Prior to Joost, the global web video service, Kellner was responsible for business development at the Nordic division of Skype Technologies, the worldwide leader in Internet telephony, and now an eBay company.

"I stole Gustaf from one of Skype's technology providers to work with me at Skype, and I'm sure my old friend Niklas Zennstrom isn't thrilled with this move, but Nonoba is experiencing significant expansion and growth right now and we need Gustaf's experience and expertise," said Jonas Kjellberg, chairman of Nonoba's board of directors.

Founded in 2007 by Chris Benjaminsen and Oliver Pedersen, Nonoba introduced the Flash development community's first multiplayer and payment APIs that are free, open and work anywhere on the Web. Today, Nonoba games are played on more than 16,000 Websites worldwide.

"Nonoba is truly a market leader when it comes to Flash development tools, and the beauty of our game-playing site is it isn't just for teenage boys - nearly half our players today are women and more than a third of our registered users are over 25-years-old," said Kellner. "There's an explosion in demand now for low-cost sources of entertainment and socializing, so I'm confident Nonoba is in the right place at the right time."
