Steve Franco is a list keeper. In fact, this basketball fanatic claims to have over 100 running lists that he updates, when he feels the need to do so.
One of those lists encouraged Franco to author his first book Need to Argue -Make a List - My List of All-Time Greatest Basketball Players. Franco a former New Jersey high school basketball coach has a real passion for the game of basketball, so much that he kept lists about his favorite players.
The lists eventually wound up as a 355 page book published by Two Harbors Press and covers all-time NBA basketball guards, forwards and centers. The book even contains Franco's All-Time Team, the Top 50 Ever and Top 100 Ever, as well as Top Coaches and Player Statistics.
Franco's list includes NBA players from different eras such as Wilt Chamberlain, Willis Reed, Jerry West, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Dr. J, Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, George Mikan, Bob Cousy, Shaquille O'Neal, Kobe Bryant, Tim Duncan, Paul Pierce and Damon Stoudamire to name a few.
"I guess after keeping these lists and seeing the reactions I would get from my friends and family it inspired me to write this book," said Franco. "I love a good argument and I know not everyone will agree with my point of view, but that's what makes it fun."
"I want people to take what I have written and maybe come up with their own list," he said. "I think in general sports arguments are all in good fun. I guess you can call this a guide to starting a healthy debate about the greatest basketball players of all time."
