Looking for a Change of Career? Computeach Can Offer a Quick Transition To a More Satisfying Future

The old ethos of a 'job for life' has shifted in recent years to become more focused on career development and a more transient workforce. London (PRWEB) March 26, 2009 -- The old ethos of a 'job for life' has shifted in recent years to become more focused on career development and a more transient workforce. People are, on average, changing their career at least four times during their working life. To cater for this change in the perceptions and expectations of working life, Computeach has developed a system to help our students create their own marketable career paths to correspond to a changing employment marketplace.

And it seems to be working rather well. IT is one of the fastest growing career opportunities in the UK, with thousands of varied and challenging options open to those who are committed to expanding their skills sets. Mike Mousicos is one of those who decided that it was time for a change.

Mike had spent years dealing with the daily stresses and strains of life as an estate agent before taking up a Computer Course with Computeach. After completing qualifications as a Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician and Certified Systems Administrator, he turned to our careers service to help him take the first steps on his new career path.

"The careers team notifies you of vacancies as soon as they become available. I got help with preparing my CV and was given advice for interviews. I think the most important point is that I felt they were on my side and that my consultant had made it a personal goal to find me a job!" he told us.

Because he had young children and a full time job, Mike particularly liked the fact that he could learn at his own pace and from home, without taking time out of his busy day to go to classes. But it wasn't just the prospect of moving into a career he was interested in that prompted Mike to take up the Computeach challenge. "It has been a fantastic exercise in personal development and self-discipline as well," he told us.

Although Mike only had a basic knowledge of computers, with the tutor's help he was able to expand his knowledge rapidly and as a consequence of his hard work and Computeach's support, he's now in a job that's both challenging and rewarding, with plenty of prospects for further career development. "I have been able to switch careers to something I enjoy and I am climbing the ladder fast!"

"Seeing people like Mike succeed is what makes working for Computeach so rewarding," says Computeach's managing director Karl Parkinson. "There are so many people out there who are thinking about a career change, and with the right support from our dedicated team of tutors and careers advisors, they can turn that into a reality. Mike's story is not uncommon, and there's plenty of former Computeach students who have made a positive move into a completely new career and are happier than they've ever been," he adds.

But the last word really should go to Mike, who feels that the support and guidance he received from the Computeach team supporting him made all the difference. "It won't be easy - nothing worthwhile ever is," he says. "However, if you're prepared to go for it, these guys and girls are in your corner!"
