MTU Onsite Energy, a worldwide leader in distributed energy systems, recently received a significant order for 40 diesel-engine powered generator sets from APR Energy in Jacksonville, Florida that are initially destined for Peru.
The MTU Onsite Energy generator sets will be used by APR Energy to deliver the Peruvian Energy Authority supplementary power for the utility grid in Trujillo Province in northern Peru. As one of the largest cities in Peru, the power needs in Trujillo have increased significantly in recent years, resulting in an increase in demand on the power grid. In total, APR Energy will provide a combined installed capacity of 60MW - enough energy to power an estimated 30,000 homes in the United States.
APR Energy is a global energy solutions provider delivering short, medium and long term power generation projects, utilizing highly reliable and environmentally friendly generating equipment. Given MTU's reputation for extremely clean engines and excellent reliability, APR Energy selected MTU Onsite Energy equipment to further enhance its global fleet.
MTU Onsite Energy's scope of supply includes generator sets based on MTU Series 4000 engines in custom ISO containers, as well as switchgear and custom value added services.
The generator sets will be built at MTU Onsite Energy's Mankato facility and then permanently affixed within the custom ISO containers, making them into portable power modules. MTU Onsite Energy will provide engineering and staff support for APR Energy during the installation phase in Peru, which is expected to take place between April and June 2009.
"This is an ambitious project with an aggressive time frame," stated Al Prosser, Director of Sales for MTU Onsite Energy in Mankato, "and it is one that we are excited to be working on with such a global leader as APR Energy. Given the emphasis that both of our companies place on technology and innovative power solutions, it really is a perfect fit."
After sales support for APR Energy will be provided by MTU Peru, an authorized distributor for MTU Onsite Energy, as well as direct from the factory locations in Mankato, Minnesota; Detroit, Michigan and Friedrichshafen, Germany.
APR Energy has completed numerous fast-track temporary power projects throughout the world and is known for its ability to execute projects in very short periods of time, even in the most challenging environments such as Sri Lanka, Mexico and Haiti.
MTU Onsite Energy looks forward to supporting APR Energy as it continues to grow its global fleet.
