The result is a program designed to support our members as they face new challenges that did not exist a year, or even six months ago.
Alexandria, VA (PRWEB) March 31, 2009
The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) today announced that Jack Welch will kick-off this year's opening session before thousands of HR professionals at SHRM's Annual Conference and Exposition. The event runs from June 28 - July 1 in New Orleans and is the largest gathering of HR professionals in the world.
"We are privileged to have Mr. Welch join us to share his insights about the critical role human resources plays today," said SHRM President and CEO Laurence O'Neil. "SHRM's Annual Conference is an extraordinary opportunity for HR professionals and business leaders to gain the critical knowledge and tools they need to lead successful organizations. The addition of Mr. Welch makes this year's conference one of SHRM's most important and memorable events."
In its 61st year, SHRM's Annual Conference gathers leaders from across many business sectors and HR disciplines to network and attend valuable workshops on the most demanding human capital issues of the day, as well as the timeless management challenges that define an organization's culture and success.
More than 200 sessions are scheduled this year, with a number of new panels, tracks and networking opportunities added to help HR managers and companies deal with the economic downturn.
New this year is a "Career Transition Pavilion" where attendees who are looking for work can meet privately with a career transition consultant to get free help on revising their resume, developing a marketing plan, or learning new networking techniques. Also, conference participants who need to plan a restructuring or downsizing for their organizations can meet with an expert to begin planning the appropriate steps.
"SHRM has gone to great lengths to make the content of this conference the most timely, relevant and useful for all HR professionals in the current economic climate," said O'Neil. "The result is a program designed to support our members as they face new challenges that did not exist a year, or even six months ago."
